Patricia’s First Escape When COVID-19 Is Over

Patricia, what will be your escape once everything is over?

I am already dreaming about my getaway, and when all this is over, I will visit again one of the most beautiful coastlines in Spain and my favorite place in the world: Costa Brava.

Here, nature, with its breathtaking landscapes, merges with the sea. We can find small caves, vertiginous cliffs, and charming beaches. This region is also full of quaint medieval villages, such as Peratallada, Pals, Besalú…, heritage sites, such as the Jewish quarter of Girona or Sant Pere de Rodes Monastery, and of course, charming fishing villages such as Calella de Palafrugell or Cadaques, home of Salvador Dalí and his muse Gala.

Llafranc

I will make reservations at el Far Hotel, a small boutique hotel located in Llafranc. It is perched on a steep cliff 175m above sea level, next to the majestic lighthouse of Sant Sebastià, and it boasts magnificent infinite views over the Mediterranean sea.

I am also planning, together with my family, to walk the coastal path between Llafranc and Calella de Palafrugell. There are no walks more spectacular than the ones along this beautiful coast, where on one side you have the green of the pine trees and on the other side, the blue of the sea. This path is easy enough for everyone in the family to enjoy outdoor activity altogether.

In Spain, we are very well known for our gastronomy and for how important food is to us. We spend long hours enjoying, not only food but the company of family and friends around at the table. I cannot wait to follow our walk with a Mediterranean lunch by the beach and taste again the local delicious grilled red prawns from Palamos bay, and a succulent seafood paella!

And because after this time we deserve to spoil ourselves a little bit, I will call my friends at the diving shop that I visit every time I’m at Costa Brava, and go for a sailing and diving afternoon. One of my biggest pleasures is to admire the incredible coast from the perspective of the sea and to feel the freedom of diving in the deep blue pristine water of the Mediterranean Sea.

Patricia, why did you choose this place?

  • I chose this place because it is my favorite destination in Spain and because it feels like home to me.
  • I love the wide range of experiences that this area offers and it’s like the perfect blend to me: sea adventures and outdoor sports, great Mediterranean gastronomy (my favorite!), and relaxing secluded coves.
  • During the lockdown, I realized what truly matters. Family and their health have become the number one on my list. So, I can’t wait to gather all together and enjoy experiences as a family again!

While I was writing this article, I played on my headphones the sound of the sea, as it’s a sound that I didn’t realize how much I was going to miss, and I want to share it, to bring the sounds of nature closer to you, and to help you dream of your next adventure: Click here to hear it!
